Devil's Heaven: 20th Annual Summer Benefit

The Watermill Center will once again bring together the worlds of theater, art, fashion, design, and society for DEVIL'S HEAVEN : The 20th Annual Watermill Center Summer Benefit. Watermill International Summer Program Participants from over 25 countries will create eight and a half  acres of installations and performances throughout the grounds of Watermill during the event.  The funds raised will support The Watermill Center's year round Artist Residency Programs, providing a unique environment for young and emerging artists to explore and develop new work.

Included at this year's 20th Annual Watermill Center Summer Benefit on July 27 in Water Mill, New York will be many works by self-taught African American folk artist Clementine Hunter. Robert Wilson directed a new work for the theatre, ZINNIAS, based on the life of Clementine Hunter that premeired at Montclair State University's Peak Performances on January 26, 2013.

Beginning at 6pm, the evening will include cocktails, a silent auction, performances, art installations, dinner, dancing and a live auction hosted by auctioneer Simon de Pury.  The Watermill Center is pleased to announce that Alan Cumming will be our Master of Ceremonies for the evening.  

This year’s silent and live auction will include over 70 lots from emerging and established artists and galleries such as Alice Aycock, Roya Akhavan,  Michael Combs, Awol Erizku, Shirin Neshat, Joseph Lapiana, Andrew Sendor, Luc Tuymans, Paula Cooper, Betty Cunningham, Hasted Kraeutler,  Yancey Richardson, James Salomon, David Zwirner, and Robert Wilson.  Many more to be confirmed in the coming weeks.  For details about the auction please contact Daneyal Mahmood at 212 253 7484 ext. 15 or daneyal.mahmood@watermillcenter.org.
