The Watermill Center invites members of the community to partake in the first Family Day of 2017! Join us for an afternoon of music and movement workshops with current Artists-in-Residence Kate Eberstadt, Brune Charvin, and Khesrau Behroz of The Hutto Project and Watermill Alum, Makram Hamdan.

Open to children ages 7 – 12. All children must be accompanied by at least one adult.

Filmmaker Brune Charvin, writer Khesrau Behroz, and composer Kate Eberstadt recently collaborated on The Hutto Project, a music and performance education program for displaced children living within a refugee camp in Berlin. 25 students came together from Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Palestine, and Moldova and created original choral and performance works. On Family Day @ WMC, the artists invite you to join their classroom where they will replicate the same choral & movement exercises, share their experiences, and lead participants in reflection.
Makram Hamdan is a dancer and choreographer who has performed with Robert Wilson for over 20 years, and continues to work closely with The Watermill Center as a teaching artist in both theatre and movement. Hamdan’s passion for performance embraces students of all ages and abilities. For Family Day, Hamdan will lead a workshop in movement discovery, and how to use language as a performative impulse to create movement. Participants of all skill levels welcome!
Families will collaborate to create and perform together while learning. Dress comfortably and be ready to move!
