Visit The Watermill Center

In addition to our year-round artist residency programs, The Watermill Center offers an exciting range of open studios, exhibitions, tours, lectures, and other events and activities throughout the year. If you are unable to attend an upcoming event and would still like to visit, The Watermill Center’s 10+ acre grounds are open every day from dawn to dusk for exploring. Please note this does not include use of the buildings, including the restrooms.

In Process @ The Watermill Center is our ongoing series of studio visits and open rehearsals that invite the community to gain unique insight into the creative process of artists, cultivating an understanding of how artists from across the globe develop new work.

Questions + Ideas (Q+I)

QUESTIONS + IDEAS (Q + I), The Watermill Center’s year-round talk series, gathers leaders and creative thinkers across the arts, humanities, and sciences to engage on complex and wide-ranging topics. With a focus on cross-disciplinary and cultural exchange, Q + I celebrates creative thinking and shared curiosity.

Topics have included Indigenous Art and the Evolution of Culture, the Intersection of Gender and Justice, the neurodiverse artistic experience, the Attention Economy, and the Future of Architecture. Speakers range from Watermill Artists-in-Residence and East End community leaders to global thought leaders, including Marina Abramovic, Hilton Als, Ron Athey, Philip Glass, Daniel Libeskind, Aja Monet, Nico Muhly, Robert O’Hara, Nadya Tolokonnikova, Carrie Mae Weems and Dr. Cornel West.

Artists’ Table

Artists’ Table is our year-round brunch and dinner series, offering guests the chance to intimately connect with our Artists-in-Residence. Artists’ Table features a private presentation by our international artists, followed by a farm-to-table family-style meal on our scenic campus.

Exhibitions at The Watermill Center highlight the work of artists from across the globe, offering the local community the opportunity to explore the latest in contemporary artistic practice in our multi-purpose and flexible studio spaces.

Healing Arts

This all-ages series invites the public to explore the intersection of art and wellness. Led by a curated roster of artists and practitioners, Healing Arts workshops and classes are open to all skill levels and offer the opportunity to commune in The Watermill Center’s art-filled indoor or outdoor spaces.

Open Spaces

Open Spaces invites the community to experience The Watermill Center’s 10-acre campus as a site of inspiration and experimentation. Highlighting our artists-in-residence, alumni, programs, and local East End community members, Open Spaces is an opportunity to engage with our galleries, studios, gardens, and grounds through creative workshops, performances, tours, and installations. Audiences of all ages are welcome.

Rentals + Private Events

The Watermill Center is ideal for photography sessions, product launches, corporate or educational retreats and conferences, birthday parties, intimate weddings and engagement parties. The Center is in use year-round for our wide range of artistic and educational programming. As such, only a limited selection of dates is available each June and September. All funds raised support The Watermill Center’s year-round Artist Residency and Education Programs.

The Annual Summer Benefit

The Watermill Center’s Annual Summer Benefit celebrates art and experimentation in support of the organization’s year-round programming — our artist residency, education, and public programs. Featuring dynamic works by a roster of groundbreaking international artists, the evening invites guests to immerse themselves in a curated series of installations and performances across The Watermill Center’s expansive property.

Patron Trips

Through our semi-annual Patron Trips, we open closed doors granting patrons and members exclusive access to performances, private collections, studio visits, and receptions in private homes.
