The Watermill Center will once again bring together the worlds of theater, art, fashion, design, and society for DEVIL’S HEAVEN : The 20th Annual Watermill Center Summer Benefit. Watermill International Summer Program Participants come from over 25 countries to create installations and performances throughout the eight and a half acres of grounds during the event. The funds raised will support The Watermill Center’s year round Artist Residency Programs, providing a unique environment for young and emerging artists to explore and develop new work.
After the incredible success of last year’s exhibition, MIKE KELLEY: 1954 – 2012, The Watermill Center is pleased to announce that DIETER MEIER AND THE YELLO YEARS will open at Devil’s Heaven: The 20th Annual Watermill Center Summer Benefit. The exhibition will be curated by Harald Falckenberg and Tony Guerrero and run through September 1, 2013.
Included at this year’s event will be many works by self-taught African American folk artist Clementine Hunter. Robert Wilson directed a new work for the theater, ZINNIAS, based on the life of Clementine Hunter that premiered at Montclair State University’s Peak Performances on January 26, 2013.
Beginning at 6pm, the evening will include cocktails, a silent auction, performances, art installations, dinner, dancing and a live auction hosted by auctioneer Simon de Pury. The Watermill Center is pleased to announce that Alan Cumming will be our Master of Ceremonies for the evening.
