With the inaugural residency as part of The Watermill Center / Lincoln Center Directors Lab Partnership, Watermill will be host to international directors representing Canada, Northern Ireland, Germany, Taiwan, Israel, Greece, Thailand, India, and the United States, who were all members of the 2010 Lincoln Center Theater Directors Lab program. They will spend their time in residence at Watermill developing WorldWideLab, an International Directors Lab Festival. We invite you to hear their findings after their residency, see work that is being developed and participate in a discussion that will contribute to the future of this exciting creation.
About WorldWideLab:
WorldWideLab is an international collective, with members who are creating dynamic, diverse and engaging work in every corner of the globe. First coming together as members of the Lincoln Center Directors Lab in the Summer of 2010, they desired to continue collaborating with each other in a way that would draw on the best elements of their Lab experience. While the role of Director can often be insular, they are inspired by the opportunity to share their techniques, ideas, and stories – all of which are deeply rooted in the places they come from and the experiences they’ve had. Their geographic and cultural diversity serves as their inspiration for WorldWideLab: A Directors Festival. The work presented will be possible through an openness to learn from, and share with collaborators. Through theatre, borders can become inconsequential. Their mission is to share stories from far and near with audiences all around the world.
